Pay Up Or Be Axed (The Star News)
At least someone has voiced up against such irregularities however what proposed seems to be lenient especially when mentioned ‘to pay a portion of lost revenue’ which is not well defined as a portion could be 1% or 50% of lost revenue which posed no deterrence to the person involved in the irregularities. When face with such irregularities what the head of department should do : 1) Lodge polis report and 2) Report to MACC and let them investigate.
Some friends said the Minister of the Department should take the lead to take pro-active action by lodging both police report and MACC report to clear one’s name and to distance oneself from such irregularities. The continuous discovery of irregularities in government department management has dented our nation image internationally causing undesirable doubt on our government management ability.

I went to Post Office this afternoon to pay my CDT box annual rental fee. I noticed A B and C buttons at the number generating machine at the Sibu Post Office. A for JPJ matters and B for ANS unit trust while C for multi service counter.
However, there are one counter each available for public and Multi Service counter number had reached 3377 while JPJ reached 1662 and ANS reached 2112 at 2:20pm.
JPJ counter seemed to be efficient as the crowd flow is fast. Both ANS and multi service counters are at slower pace. Since most of us are doing payment I wonder why only one counter for multi service purposes? Isn’t it better to have 2 counters for multi service matters? I asked the counter girl why only one counter and she said there were two counters but the other staff was not around. Was the person went for lunch, tea break or something else …? More important than attending to his/her customers?
Lab test shows bacteria in 1M’sia milk
I think it is not just 1-Malaysia Shop. The authority should come up with a system to monitor food items sold in Malaysia to protect the safety and health of public. It is not that Malaysia has no proper laws and regulations to protect its people but lack of monitoring system and law-enforcement unit to ensure that no one would break the laws or do something stupid against the regulations.
It has been proven beyond doubt that laws and regulations will not automatically make manufacturers nor food operators to be health conscience and put public health as utmost priority. It is just like traffic rules will not produce responsible drivers if there is no traffic officers to ensure drivers obey traffic rules.
‘Yes’ to non-politicians as councillors
Ngieng supports proposal for councillors from professional groups
If we are going for professional management of the council, we need full time ‘employee’ and not part time Councillors who are at the same time working in some corporate companies. Will there be any conflict of interest if such corporate companies are supplier of material to Councils or contractors of councils?
If we are going to allow such situation to continue, it will defeat the purpose of open tender when the tenderer has someone in the councils to provide ‘favorable’ information to them.
I went to SESCO near my house this morning to pay my 2 bills and water bill as well. After getting my number I wait for half an hour for my turn only to notice internet down and they could not process credit card nor water bill.
I asked the counter girl why didn’t put a notice out so that we did not have to wait for nothing there wasting our time.
I went home to pay online at HSBC website which was done in less than 10 minutes.
‘People First’ seems not practised in SESCO and I hope this can be improved to avoid wasting its customers time in waiting in the queue and end up could not proceed to make payment.
The dump site fire opposite St Elizabeth School yesterday brought poisonous gases to the surrounding residents in the area.
The ‘inferno’ at Sibu Dump-site opposite St Elizabeth School
Wong Ho Leng (See Hua Daily News report) suspected someone brought so many used tyres there to burn for metal in the tyres.
It sure looks like no-one bother about metal collection problem and it has affected the health of Sibu people.
The picture is from The Star front page, it shows how bad the situation. Are we going to turn a blind-eye to all these problems??
Mat Sabu may sue over ‘communist heroes’ report
The above article shows the argument of two sides on Patriotism and hero. But I find it quite interesting as when Malaysia was not even formed during that time to talk about patriotism and hero, one has to base on history and your unbiased stand to decide.
Who should be considered HERO? The One fighting for British Government in Malaya or the one fighting the British Government and its police? A bit confusing, right?
A friend commented: “We don’t have to go that far. Ask for those who have had fought for peace during the insurgency in Sarawak after the Independence until the late 80s’. They are long forgotten by the people and the government.” May be he is right. During a kopitiam chit-chat, a friend said “A big chunk of history has been conveniently forgotten to serve political purpose to project certain race as hero and pioneer in fighting for independence. The article above indicated that the incidence happened before formation of Malaysia BUT the movie that depicted the incidence never mentioned about the very fact that those ‘communists’ are fighting against British soldiers and its police.” What the friend said may be true and may be it is not true.
However, we must have a measurable standard to decide who are hero of Malaysia. If in prior formation of Malaysia era, killing British Government soldiers and police is not considered hero and not considered patriotism then our Rosli Dorby still a hero who killed a British Officer before formation of Malaysia era? To me he is a hero but we just can’t have double standard, right?

This few days a piece of news caught my eyes.
It was the EPF investment in UK’s properties. But what interested me most is not just the total amount of Ringgits involved but the return of about 5-6% (as reported in the news)
Today’s news (Business News section of STAR) even mentioned that such investment needs ministry approval but the EPF website stated such approval was never given. The writer suggested someone to update the website.
With the “Global Shares Sell-off likely to continue” will it affect EPF’s investment in UK and will return rate grow beyond 5-6% or decrease to less than 5%?
Golden Churn butter non-halal: Jakim latest!
See You Real Soon?!
From the response of the distributor the doubt on the “PIG DNA” was there BUT now this piece of news (Golden Churn butter non-halal: Jakim latest!) trying to clarify that lab test confirmed “PIG DNA” even ‘hinting’ manufacturer in NZ confirming the finding? Assuming the test is accurate on “PIG DNA” next question – how on earth it can enter the butter? Would the Dairy Board of New Zealand take action against the authority if their own test shows no trace of “PIG DNA”?
“This was confirmed by the agent of Ballantyne Food, from New Zealand, which manufactures the product.”? New Zealand is very strict in food production. If the finding is true it will be ‘very bad’ for New Zealand. Would they next ban their beef saying it has “PIG DNA” too?
If imported item needs to “carry out a ritual cleansing process by using clay soil and water, known as ‘samak’, and it has to be witnessed by the Islamic Religious Department in the respective states”. I wonder how many have met or could meet the requirement?
To avoid the next “PIG DNA” issue why not all turn to margarine manufactured locally to prevent outflow of RM as well as to stay healthy?
On the “PIG DNA” issue, the authority should conduct another lab test by independent lab on the Golden Churn Butter and release the lab test report in order to clear all doubt on the finding.

Golden Churn butter issue has brought many unanswered questions.
Why the detail lab results not released to newspaper or the importer/distributor of the Golden Churn butter?
Why Daud refused to meet the distributor from Kuala Lumpur?
Why insist on accuracy of own lab test when there is another lab test which clears the Golden Churn from ‘PIG DNA”? In any normal case a third lab test should be conducted to decide the fate of the Golden Churn butter but so far it is not done. This prompted many to suspect there is more to the argument of “PIG DNA”.
